{{{*}}}The Slidell Lady Hounds opened the season with a 50-38 loss to Valley View Tuesday. Valley View led 33-23 at the half and never looked back.

“We had moments throughout the game that we looked pretty good, but they were a match-up problem for us all night,” Slidell coach Cody Vanover said. “We never got anything going inside against their size. We played hard; we just had a lot of young-girl, first-game mistakes.”

Caitlin Pruett led the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Megan Garcia added nine points and four steals.

Kylie Franklin finished with four points, six rebounds and three assists. Kayler Talamantes tossed in five.

Slidell travels to Chico Tuesday.
