Tough weekend for Eagles

The Decatur Eagles (0-5) dropped all four games at the North Texas Tournament of Champions the team hosted over the weekend.

In their finale, Decatur fell to Springtown, 8-6. The Eagles tied things at 6-6 in the top of the fifth, but the Porcupines scored two in the bottom of the inning to take the game.

Erik Elder led the offense with a couple of hits and Nick Trachta also finished with two hits.

Paris knocked off Decatur 7-1. Drew Edwards took the loss on the mound while Christian Carrillo had the only hit.

Burkburnett put away the Eagles 9-5. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the final two innings to seal the win.

Johnny Murillo took the loss on the mound. Joey Cantu and Drew Edwards each had two hits for Decatur.

Kennedale doubled up the Eagles on Friday, 6-3. Carrillo, Clayton Egle, Elder, Trachta and Michael Hicks each had a hit.
