For most of the 2013 season the Boyd Lady ‘Jackets have been labeled an underdog, and Tuesday night was no different.
Entering their first playoff game in school history, the Lady ‘Jackets were out to prove they were no fluke. After a slow start, they did just that, rising to the occasion with a large and loud Boyd following as they took down No. 16 Grandview in four games.
Boyd (24-17) won the bi-district playoff match 14-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-17 at Chisholm Trail High School in Fort Worth.
“It feels really amazing,” Boyd coach Dusty Crafton said. “My kids have worked so hard. They (Grandview) were ranked 16th, and people didn’t even expect us to make the playoffs. I love being the underdog and proving people wrong.”
After losing the first game, Boyd hardly trailed the rest of the night. They jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second game and never fell behind.
