The Northwest Texans routed the Fossil Ridge Panthers 63-47 Friday night for their third straight victory.
Northwest (13-12, 4-3) has had its ups and downs this season but, has turned things around after an agonizing, five-game losing streak.
Power forward Todd Christensen led the night’s scoring with 17 points, followed closely by Josh Tatum with 16.
Northwest coach Mike Hatch said the biggest difference in the past week’s play is an improved defense.
“We have played very solidly on defense, and in turn that’s helped our offense sink some easy buckets,” Hatch said. “They [Fossil Ridge] are talented, but could never get into rhythm.”
Hatch said his team did a good job overall and controlled the court well enough to keep the Panthers from getting into any kind of rhythm.
The Texans led Fossil Ridge throughout, not letting the Panthers climb their way back into the game. Northwest also shot 70 percent from the charity stripe to help build their lead. The loss was the fourth straight for Fossil Ridge.
Elijah Christman finished with seven for the Texans. David Oguwolu and Casey Jimison each added six.
Northwest hosts Southlake Carroll (16-9, 5-2) Friday. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
