By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, September 7, 2013

Northwest rolled to their second victory of the season Friday, with a 49-14 win over the Grapevine Mustangs.

The Texans (2-0) put up 42 points in the first half, rolling to a 42-7 halftime lead.

Jesse Drummer kept the early part of his season going strong going a perfect 10 for 10 for 199 yards and five touchdowns.

Chase Morrison led the Texans with five catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

Drummer also connected on touchdown passes to Brady Byrd and Emmanuel Moore.

When Northwest wasn’t getting it done through the air, they were showing off their ground game. They piled up 277 rushing yards, led by Quentin Thorpe who had all of his 80 yards in the second half.

The Texans defense continues to be a bright sport in the young season. Reggie McDaniel had a huge night with three interceptions.

Northwest will put the undefeated record on the line next week at Midlothian.
