Texans fall short in championship play

The Northwest Texans made their way into the first round of the 2013 7-on-7 Division I State Tournament, but fell 34-40 against O’Conner high school Saturday, July 13.

The Texans battled their way through the division pool against Abiliene Cooper, Cy-Fair and A&M Consolidated to secure second place in the pool.

The teams’s pool record was 2-1, their only loss coming againt Cy-Fair in the first game. Cy-Fair went on to beat Creekview 27-20 in the first championship round and then lose 33-40 to Southlake in round two.

Southlake won the championship after defeating Stratford 46-27 in the final matchup.
