It was a very successful Saturday for Wise County swimmers this weekend. Eight Decatur swimmers and a Boyd swimmer advanced to the regional swim meet Feb. 8 at the Mansfield Aquatic Center after their performances at the district meet in Denton Saturday.
The Lady Eagles finished fourth overall with 52 points. Byron Nelson took the girls team title with 225.

The Eagles took sixth in team standings with 19 points, while Byron Nelson took the boys title with 181. Boyd finished seventh with 12.
“We did well,” Decatur swim coach Doris Dennard said. “We swam well for the most part. Logan [Huff] had his best time, but no one else had their best time. We don’t always have our fastest times at the district meet.”
Baley Phariss, Haley Dennard, Katey Rowden and Madeleine Semmelmann advanced in the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay. They finished third in the 200 medley with a time of 2:09 and fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.
Dennard also moved on individually in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke. Phariss is going to regionals in the 100 breaststroke.
Rowden, a state qualifier last season, advanced in the 50 free and 100 free. She also picked up the Female Swimmer of the Meet.
Logan Huff, Daniel Smyers, Trey Dale and Robert Davilla will be heading to regionals in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.
The Eagles finished fifth in the 200 medley with a time of 2:07 and sixth in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.
Huff also advanced in the 100 free.
“We were a little disappointed we didn’t get more personal best times,” Dennard said. “We were fast enough. Nerves typically take over a little at the district meet.”
Jake Bryans and Savannah Richardson of Boyd also competed in the 6-4A meet. Bryans qualified for regionals in both the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
The top six finishers in each event qualified for the regional meet.
