After winning their first two district games, the Decatur Lady Eagles suffered a setback Tuesday against Bridgeport. The Sissies (11-7, 1-1) scored nine unanswered runs on their way to a 12-7 victory.
Decatur (7-14, 2-1) got off to a nice start when Kristina Pishotta reached on an error in the first. She scored on Darlenne Davis’ triple. Davis later crossed home plate on a Madison Minor single.
The 2-0 lead did not last long. Hayley Davidson led off with a double and scored on an error. Kensley Turner then doubled home Shiloh Weirich to tie the game 2-2.
The Sissies opened the floodgates in the third. After an RBI single from Rhyan Read, Diana Garcia connected on her first career three-run home run to give the Sissies a 6-2 lead.
They added five more runs in the fourth, as the Sissies batted around taking advantage of three Lady Eagle errors.
Jenay Estrada had the big hit in the frame with a bases-clearing double.
Decatur fought back in the fifth with four runs of their own. Davis had a two-run home run, and Dawn Jensen had an RBI double cutting the Bridgeport lead to 11-5.
Bridgeport added one more run in the fifth, and Decatur plated one more in the sixth to round out the scoring.
Taylor Emola got the win, pitching five innings, giving up nine hits and recording three strikeouts.
Minor took the loss for Decatur.
The Sissies will host Gainesville Tuesday, while Sanger travels to Decatur.
