Sissies take two

The Bridgeport Sissies (4-12) grabbed two out of six matches at the Brewer Tournament over the weekend.

They closed with a 26-24, 25-14 victory over Castleberry.

Jessica White had seven kills. Leah Guinn added six digs and three kills, and Elaina Peyton dished out 16 assists.

“This tournament was a great opportunity to work out a few more kinks,” Bridgeport coach Rebekah Cummings said. “We made a few changes, and I like what I saw.

“We are still working on some issues with consistency and too many unforced errors, but overall we are making progress.”

The Sissies took down Carter Riverside 25-12, 25-20. Guinn had 10 digs and Tylar Chapa added five.

White and Kenslet Turner each had four kills.

Alvarado slipped by the Sissies 25-21, 11-25, 23-25. Chapa had 12 digs and Peyton added 19 assists.

Brock swept Bridgeport 12-25, 11-25. Chapa finished with seven digs and two kills.

Western Hills edged the Sissies 20-25, 22-25. Guinn recorded 13 digs.

Brigdeport fell to Trimble Tech 9-25, 24-26. Peyton dished out 11 assists.
