Sissies still adjusting

The Bridgeport Sissies came away with a couple of wins after competing in the Mansfield Tournament over the weekend.

Crowley downed the Sissies (2-7) in their finale, 18-25, 16-25. Tylar Chapa had eight digs and two kills. Jessica White added five kills and 17 digs, and Elaina Peyton dished out nine assists.

“We saw some very athletic teams from around the metroplex, and it gave us the opportunity to learn from some tough losses and tough wins,” Bridgeport coach Rebekah Cummings said. “We will continue to work on remaining consistent from start to finish and stepping up our intensity level.”

Bridgeport lost to Mansfield in their seventh game of the tounament, 4-25, 16-25. Leah Guinn had nine digs.

The Sissies edged Dunbar 27-25, 25-23 as White put down 10 kills and Peyton had 12 assists. Guinn came away with 12 digs.

The Sissies slipped past Irving High School in three, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21.

Guinn dug out 18 and Peyton handed out 17 assists. White had nine kills and Chapa added four.

Arlington Seguin took care of Bridgeport 7-25, 26-24 despite 14 assists from Peyton. Chapa finished with seven digs and five kills. Guinn recorded 13 digs.

Bridgeport fell to Magnolia West 12-25, 10-25, as White and Chapa both had three kills.

Lamar defeated Bridgeport, 12-25, 8-25.

Kayla Henson recorded two digs and two kills. White added four assists.

The Sissies opened the tournament with a 12-25, 23-25 loss to DeSoto.

Guinn had six digs and Peyton handed out four assists. Chapa put down two kills.
