Sissies fall to Gainesville

After leading 32-31 at the half, the Bridgeport Sissies could not hold on against the Gainesville Lady Leopards Friday. Gainesville rallied back for a 60-54 victory.

A dreadful third quarter cost the Sissies, (14-14, 0-4) when they got outscored 16-3.

“Our kids played a great ball game tonight against the second place team in our district,” Bridgeport coach Dallas Taylor said. “We did a great job of keeping Gainesville scorers in check by playing fundamental defense.

“A third quarter full of turnovers and bad possessions cost us. I was super proud of our ladies effort tonight.”

Sabrina Garza led Bridgeport with 22 and Bailey Thompson had 11. Lauren Stowers finished with 10. Elaina Peyton added five and Tylar Chapa tossed in three.
