Bridgeport had to fight and claw to hang on down the stretch as they clung to a one-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter.

A Tylar Chapa field goal with 5:19 left gave the Sissies a 47-42 lead, but they had to hold off one more Sacred Heart rally.

The Tigerettes closed the gap to within two twice in the final four minutes. Leading 50-48 with seven seconds remaining, Bailey Thompson was able to play keep away before being fouled with three seconds left. She hit one of two free throws to put the game away.

Bridgeport had to rally from behind early after Sacred Heart took a 6-0 lead to begin the game. Lauren Stowers got the Sissies right back in it, scoring four of the next seven Bridgeport points.

The Tigerettes battled back, taking an 18-14 lead to the second quarter. The Sissies jumped in front 29-27 at the half.

Bridgeport maintained their lead until late in the third quarter when Sacred Heart grabbed a 40-38 advantage with 1:46 left in the third.

Chapa responded with a three-point play to grab the lead back for the Sissies. Bridgeport went on to score the next nine points in the game.

Sabrina Garza and Stowers led the way with 11. Landrie Walsh finished with nine, and Thompson added eight.

Sacred Heart was led by Bailey Walterscheid with 13.
