The Bridgeport Sissies cross country team took second at the Lipan Range Run Wednesday.
Bridgeport finished 14 points behind first-place Lipan and defeated third-place Breckenridge by three.
“I was very proud to place that high and hear them encouraging each other to finish strong,” Bridgeport coach Dayna Hudson said. “The times cannot really be compared week to week since the terrain changes so much. We just have to strive to medal as individuals and win awards as a team.”
Diana Garcia led the way with a fifth-place finish in 14:18. Lacey Erwin took seventh with a time of 14:32. Liz Wiedemann ran 14:41 for tenth and Naomi Baca finished 18th in 15:26.
Jordyn Armstrong placed 23rd with a time of 15:53. McKenna Myers also ran 15:53 for 25th.
Alex Martinez and Colton Klyce ran for the Bulls Wednesday.
Martinez took 25th in 19:22 and Klyce placed 30th with a time of 19:53.
“I was very proud of our two sophomore boys running at the varsity level with a herd of fast runners cutting through trails, holes, bends and hills,” Hudson said. “Colton has been plagued with ankle and achilles problems, but he stayed tough and ran well. Alex is a natural born runner who is learning a lot each week.”
