Bridgeport had a tough time recovering from a bad second quarter in their 55-48 loss to Sanger Tuesday. The Indians outscored the Bulls (13-12, 0-2) 20-6 in the second frame. A late comeback came up short for Bridgeport, where the Bulls outscored Sanger 35-24 in the second half.
“We carried over our lack of scoring from the Decatur game in into the first half of the Sanger game,” Bridgeport coach Brian Miller said. “We shot the ball poorly [in the first half], turned it over and could not put the ball in the basket.
“I believe some of our younger kids grew up tonight, and I hope we can carry this same energy into a big home stretch.”
Reese Read had a tremendous effort with 30 points, and Derrick Stanford had six. Alex Samples and Stephen Howdeshell each scored five.
The Bulls will host Krum Tuesday.
