Paradise prepares for home opener

{{{*}}}It’s been a long, hard road trip for the Paradise Panthers – and they hope playing in front of the home crowd might be just what they need to get on track.

Paradise (0-3) hosts the Krum Bobcats 1-2 Friday at Panther Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Both teams come into Friday after disappointing performances the week before.

Paradise lost its third straight on Thursday to Leonard after having a two-score lead at the half.

Krum was upset by Alvord after trailing most of the game.

“We just have to get more consistent and eliminate mistakes,” Paradise coach Scott Broussard said. “We have to get better at what we do.”

This is the final tune-up for the Panthers, who begin district play after next week’s bye.

That will give new quarterback Dillon Meadows another Friday night before league play. He threw for 203 in his debut against Leonard.

“Every snap he can can get will help,” Broussard said. “The more we run the better we’ll execute. I’ve been happy with the change.”

Not only is it the home opener for the Panthers, it’s homecoming.

“I worry about the distractions,” Broussard said. “But we told our kids to just be concerned about the game on Friday.”
