Paradise finishes fifth

The Paradise Panthers missed out on a trip to state Saturday by only two spots.

When the numbers officially came in, Paradise was on the outside looking in as they had to settle for fifth place at the Class 2A Region II Meet at Grand Prairie Saturday. The Panthers came away with 158 points. Eustace won the meet with 68.

J.D. Pearson led the way in 25th position with a time of 18:22. Chance Dial placed 32nd in 18:31, and Landry Norwood ran 38th in 18:39.

Colby Dial ran 18:48 for 45th. Jarrett Holt rounded out the team’s top five, taking 53rd with a time of 18:56.

Sam Robinson secured 66th in 19:19, and Joseph Eisen claimed 128th in 21:03.

BOYD RUNNERS FINISH IN TOP 20

Omar Martinez and Marco Martinez of Boyd turned in a couple of nice showings at the Region II Meet in Grand Prairie Saturday.

Omar finished 17th with a time of 18:03, and Marco secured 19th in 18:05.

Texans take top 40 spots

Northwest’s Zach Kirkland, the lone runner for the Texans at the Region I Meet in Lubbock Saturday, came away with a top-40 spot. Kirkland took 36th with a time of 16:03.

SLIDELL TAKES 11TH

The Slidell Greyhounds came away with an 11th place finish at the Region II Meet in Grand Prairie Saturday.

Slidell accumulated 255 points, while Valley View won the meet with 58.

Khristian Talamantes led the way for the Greyhounds taking 39th in 19:20. Kyler Carnes picked up 44th in 19:26. Shelby Vanover ran 20:04 for 61st, and Miguel Sanchez took 83rd in 20:41.

Dustin Davis was the fifth Greyhound to finish, claiming 92nd with a time of 20:58.

Colton Crane took 96th in 21:04. Heydon Crane was 106th in 21:37.
