After finishing fourth a season ago, the Paradise Panthers vaulted to the district cross-country championship at Alvord Monday.
Paradise finished with 49 points to claim the top spot. All Panther runners finished in the top 17 spots.
Brock took second with 59, and Peaster was third with 62.
Boyd claimed fourth with 70, and Alvord placed seventh with 189.
The top three teams advance to the regional meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie Nov. 2, along with the top ten finishers.
Paradise’s J.D. Pearson led area runners with a second-place finish in 17:39. Peaster’s David Buchanon took the top spot in 17:02.
The Boyd duo of Marco Martinez and Jose Omar Martinez advanced to the regional meet after Marco finished third in 17:56 and Jose took fourth in 18:07.
Chance Dial was the second Paradise runner taking sixth, finishing in 18:11, and Colby Dial secured 11th in 18:35.
Landry Norwood ran 18:43 for 14th. Jarrett Holt was the fifth Panther to cross the finish line, taking 16th with a time of 18:59.
Sam Robinson captured 17th in 19:01.
Boyd’s Aaron Hammett took 13th in 18:40, Cameron Hammett finished 22nd in 19:34 and Aaron Robert Wright secured 28th in 20:05.
Boyd’s Nathan Martinez captured 32nd in 20:16 and Isaac Vang ran 44th in 23:29.
Alvord’s Alex Vargas led the way for the Bulldogs finishing 26th in 19:53.
Logan Watkins took 37th for Alvord in 21:08. Ryan Edwards placed 41st in 22:59 and Kory Maag was 42nd in 23:05.
Cody Peterson was Alvord’s fifth runner to cross the finish line, taking 43rd with a time of 23:09.
Cody Newby clocked a 23:58 for 45th.
