After Northwest was forced to punt on their first possession, Fossil Ridge took advantage.

The Panthers marched right down the field in seven plays capped off by a Jacob Gnacinski three yard touchdown pass to Niron Fields, giving them a 7-0 lead.

Gnacinski passed for 209 yards and three touchdowns against the Texan defense.

Northwest went three and out again on their next possession.

Gnacinski hit Ryan Parker for a 65-yard score on the first play of the Panthers next possession. Fossil Ridge took a 14-0 lead into the second quarter.

Northwest put together a drive early in the second only to have Dusty Cloud lose the ball on a fumble.

Later in the quarter Northwest put together an 18-play drive capped off by a 24-yard Chris Hamilton field goal.

The momentum didn’t last long. Northwest self-destructed in the final two minutes of the second quarter and could never recover.

A 35-yard pass from Gnacinski to Fields set up the Panthers first and goal at the three. The two hooked up again on the next play to give Fossil Ridge a 21-3 lead.

The ensuing kickoff was the final dagger. Northwest’s Emmanuel Moore fumbled the kickoff and Fossil Ridge recovered at the Texan 14.

Moore was injured on the play and had to be carted off the field. Fossil Ridge scored two plays later on two-yard scamper by Keshawn Mitchell, giving them a 28-3 lead a the half.

Northwest added their only touchdown midway through the third quarter on a Chase Morrison two-yard run.

The Texans take on Haltom next week before a showdown with Southlake Carrol at home Oct. 18.
