Panthers play for pride

By Clay Corbett | Published Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Any hopes of the postseason for Paradise were dashed after their 49-31 loss to Boyd last week. For the second straight season, the Panthers will head to the final week of the regular season with no chance of a playoff berth.

But the do have a chance to end with a win.

The Ponder Lions (2-7, 0-5) tangle with the Paradise Panthers (1-8, 1-4) Friday at Panther Stadium, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Paradise’s lone win last year came in this game. They will try to double their victory total from a year ago with a win Friday.

Ponder is coming off a bye week and lost to Boyd 33-14 the week before.

The Panthers made some strides offensively, with no turnovers against Boyd. They passed for 199 yards.

Ponder’s offense has struggled in district play. They scored over 14 points just once, and that was when they reached 24 in a loss to Bowie.
