Alvord Bulldogs fell short of repeat success Friday with a 13-6 loss to the Ponder Lions.

The Bulldogs had a chance to lead in the second quarter. A touchdown play was wiped out by an offensive interference penalty.

Had that touchdown gone down in the books, Alvord could have possibly tied or just trailed by a single point in the final quarter.

Cassidy Patterson was able to fire off a 51-yard pass to Joe Randall with just over seven minutes left in the fourth, but the Bulldogs were unable to get back into scoring position.

Both sides remained tied 0-0 going into the third quarter, but that didn’t last long. Ponder’s Christian Worthington ran the second half kickoff back 84 yards to score the Lion’s first touchdown, which was followed by a successful extra point kick.

The Lions completed a 25-yard pass to score their final touchdown only 10 seconds into the fourth.
