Bridgeport’s hot shooting was not enough to knock off the Gainesville Leopards Tuesday. The Bulls (14-16, 1-6) hit 10 3-pointers and had a chance at the buzzer for another that would have sent the game to overtime but the shot fell just short in the final seconds.
The Leopards led 31-19 with just over three minutes left in the half, but Bridgeport closed on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 31-27 at the half.
Gainesville built their lead up to 52-47 with under two minutes remaining when Dalton Hudson hit another three for the Bulls.
Alex Samples got the Bulls to within one at 56-55 with another three with under 30 seconds remaining.
The Leopards quickly inbounded the ball and got an easy layup to put the game away.
Bridgeport was led by Samples with 20 and Reese Read with 13. Derrick Stanford tossed in 11.
David Moore led Gainesville with 17.
