Lady Jackets split 2

The Boyd Lady Jackets began the week with a season-opening victory over Keene before falling to Nolan Catholic Thursday.

Nolan took down Boyd (1-1) in four games, 23-25, 26-24, 13-25, 23-25.

Brooklyn Scarborough led the way with 12 kills and three blocks. Britney Howard had 19 digs, and Baylie Harris handed out 14 assists.

Marley McCune added two aces.

Boyd slid past Keene in five games on Tuesday, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 17-25, 15-4.

Scarborough ended the game with seven kills.

Howard had 15 digs and Stephanie Jordan dished out 11 assists. Kelcei Ferguson came away with three blocks.

Paige Clearly added four aces.

“We are having to learn how to win,” Boyd coach Dusty Crafton said after the Keene win. “In the fifth game when the pressure was on we did what we needed to do, and I’m proud of them for that.”

The Lady Jackets are competing at the Burkburnett Tournament this weekend before returning home to face Eastland Tuesday.
