The Slidell Lady Hounds took third at their own tournament over the weekend.

Slidell (4-4) defeated Denton Calvary in the third-place game, 39-16.

“We came out and played well in the first quarter,” Slidell coach Cody Vanover said. “There seemed to be a lapse in concentration in the second, but it picked back up in the second half.”

Caitlin Pruett led the way with 15, and Kayler Talamantes had seven. Makayla Fitzgerald added six.

In the semifinals Slidell fell to Howe, 60-28.

Pruett had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kylie Franklin added seven, and Talamantes tossed in five.

“We were just out maned,” Vanover said. “Even when we kept good defensive position, they were still hitting shots.”

In the tournament opener, the Lady Hounds edged Collinsville, 41-34.

Pruett had a tremendous game with 16 points and 21 rebounds. Franklin finished with 10, and Talamantes added five.

Slidell travels to Santo Tuesday.
