Lady Eagles take third; Decatur boys finish fifth

Under the night sky with only a few lights to guide them, the No. 2 ranked Decatur Lady Eagles placed third at the Hebron Friday Night Hawk Invitational.

Decatur finished with 74 points on the two-mile course, competing in the Class 5A division.

Lewisville Hebron finished on top with 32 and Grapevine was second with 72.

Jessica Kyle led the way, taking 11th in 12:45.07. Nicole Neighbors was right behind her in 12th with a time of 12:45.09.

Senior Haley Dennard took 17th in 12:57 and Paola Palomo was 20th with a time of 13:06.

Georgina Palomo had a time of 13:13 – good enough for 27th. Morgan Haney took 33rd with a 13:28 and Nancy Torres was 34th with a 13:30.

The No. 3 Eagle boys’ 150 points put them fifth in the standings. Lewisville Hebron won the boys division with 43.

Taylor Clayton cruised to a third-place finish in 9:54 to lead the way.

Brandon Rivera took 22nd in 10:37, and Tyler Wilson was 30th in 11:01.

Austin Poole had a time of 11:32, good enough for 53rd. Joaquin Aldape had an 11:43 for 56th.

Riley Keller finished 58th in 11:47, and Hunter Helm placed 66th in 12:14.

Decatur will compete in the Marcus Invitational at Northlake Park in Denton Saturday.
