Lady Eagles race to first

Jessica Kyle led the way as the third-ranked Decatur Lady Eagles cruised to victory at the Birdville Flyin’ Hawk Invitational in Hurst Saturday.

Kyle finished fourth overall with a time of 12:46. Lindsay’s Lauren Gibbs grabbed the top spot with a time of 12:22.

Decatur had a team total of 27 points, finishing way ahead of second-place Alvarado, who had 75.

The Boyd Lady Jackets captured sixth with 172.

Nicole Neighbors and Haley Dennard were close behind Kyle, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.

Neighbors had a time of 13:06, and Dennard finished in 13:10.

Morgan Haney secured ninth in 13:27, and Paola Palomo ran 13:35 for 11th.

Nancy Torres clocked a 13:38 for 12th, and Georgina Palomo ran 13th in 13:40.

Hope Fuller placed 16th with a time of 13:54.

Jessica Colbert led the way for Boyd in 14th position with a time of 13:46. Lizeth Uribe finished 37th in 15:27.

Brianna Morrison captured 46th in 16:08, and Heather Beauregard took 52nd in 16:22.

Savanna Richardson was 63rd in 16:48, and Michaela Kling ran 16:54 for 69th.

Decatur will host the district meet Oct. 24 at Joe Wheeler Park.

SISSIES TAKE SECOND

The Bridgeport Sissies ran to a second-place finish at the Blue Ridge Invitational Thursday. Princeton took the top overall spot.

“I was so proud of the varsity girls running the longest hills they have ever run up in Blue Ridge, battling Princeton all the way,” Bridgeport coach Dayna Hudson said. “Now we will be looking ahead to the district meet and working hard for another week to prepare to run the hardest district meet in Class 3A cross country in the state of Texas.”

Diana Garcia led the way with a fourth-place finish in 13:47. Lacey Erwin took fifth in 13:53. Naomi Baca finished 11th in 14:40, and Jordyn Armstrong was 12th in 14:48.

Liz Weidmemann ran 15:06 for 17th, and McKenna Myers ran 18th in 15:10.

LADY BULLDOGS FINISH THIRD

The Alvord Lady Bulldogs had three runners finish in the top 15, as they captured third at the Mansfield Invitational Saturday.

Alvord finished with 75 points. First-place Argyle won the meet with 42.

“The kids ran pretty good,” Alvord coach Curtis Enis said. “Our times are starting to come down. We still have a lot of improving to do if we have any intentions of meeting our goals.”

Lauren Hart led the way with a seventh-place finish in 12:41. Lacey Watkins was right behind in eighth in 12:44.

Clara Breashears secured 15th with a time of 12:59. Brooklyn Mitchum took 20th in 13:12. Corey Schlomach ran 13:36 good for 30th.

Savannah Williams placed 38th in 13:55, and Sarah Nichols was 48th in 14:28.

The Lady Bulldogs will host the district meet Monday.
