Lady Eagles fly past Bridgeport

The seventh-ranked Lady Eagles made quick work of their rival Friday.

Decatur (27-7, 2-0) swept Bridgeport (7-28, 0-3) 25-2, 25-4, 25-11.

Cooper Martin finished with 10 kills and two digs. Caroline Lowery added eight digs, 12 digs and an ace.

Makayla Mayfield put down three kills, had seven digs and two aces. Dylana Hutchins recorded six kills and six digs.

Stormi Leonard had an amazing nine aces, 24 assists and seven digs.

“We started out timid and that was tough to overcome against such a strong team,” Bridgeport coach Rebekah Cummings said. “We fought our way out of a few rallies, but we really never loosened up.”

Leah Guinn had six digs and a kill. Tylar Chapa added five digs. Elania Peyton handed out five assists and had five digs.

Decatur hosts Gainesville Friday while Krum travels to Bridgeport.
