Lady Eagles finish 8th

On Saturday the Decatur swim team competed at the 2012 Carrollton-Farmers Branch New Year’s Classic. There were 37 teams competing and 600 athletes in the meet.

The Lady Eagles finished eighth overall with 123 total points tying them with Irving MacArthur. San Antonio Johnson won the meet with 654.

In the boys division, the Eagles finished 22nd overall with 17 points, while San Antonio Johnson took the meet with 603.5 points.

It was the next to the last competition before the district meet on Jan. 26 in Denton. The Decatur squads will have their final tune-up this weekend at the Wichita Falls Dual Meet.

In the New Year’s Classic the 200-yard medley relay team of Madeleine Semmelmann, Baley Phariss, Katherine Rowden and Haley Dennard took eighth with a time of 2:09.

The team then went on to capture fifth in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:56.

On the boys side, the 200-yard medley relay team of Robert Davila, Trey Dale, Logan Huff and Daniel Smyers captured 19th with a time of 2:11.

The same group picked up 22nd in the boys 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:52.
