Lady Eagles cruise to Reunion Run title

The Decatur Eagles and Lady Eagles both came away with first-place finishes at the annual Reunion Run at Joe Wheeler Park Saturday.

Under cool and cloudy conditions the Lady Eagles scored 37 points, while Paradise secured second with 78.

Alvord took third with 135 and Boyd claimed tenth with 262.

“Everything went really well,” Decatur cross country coach David Park said. “We had 67 schools in attendance. That alone may be a record. All four of our squads were very businesslike and impressive in their victories. I could tell it was important for them to run well in front of their family and friends. It was a good day.”

Nicole Neighbors led the way for Decatur with a third-place finish in 12:33. Mineral Wells’ Alex Pearcy took the overall top spot with a time of 12:30.

Decatur’s Jessica Kyle took fourth in 12:34 and Haley Dennard ran 12:50, good for fifth. Morgan Haney placed eighth in 12:51.

Georgina Palomo was 17th with a time of 13:14 and Nancy Torres claimed 18th in 13:16. Paolo Palomo was 21st in 13:20.

Paradise’s Aliyah Read took second overall with a time of 12:31. April Coursey secured 11th in 13:03 and Angela Powers ran 13:17 for 20th.

Emily Brinson placed 22nd in 13:21 and Taylor Richards was right behind in 23rd with a time of 13:22.

Kaylee McConnell finished 25th in 13:24 and Makayla Neighbors was 28th in 13:27.

Lacey Watkins led Alvord with a 12th-place finish in 13:06. Lauren Hart took 24th in 13:23 and Brooklyn Mitchum was 31st in 13:38.

Clara Breashears ran 13:42, good for 32nd. Savannah Williams secured 36th in 13:53. Corey Schlomach finished 39th in 14:02 and Sarah Nichols claimed 52nd in 14:30.

Jessica Colbert led the way for the Lady Jackets with a time of 12:49 for second. Lizeth Uribe finished 55th in 14:45 and Michaela King ran 14:49 for 65th.

Savanna Richardson placed 66th in 15-flat and Libby Singleton took 69th in 15:09.

The Slidell Lady Hounds didn’t have five runners to complete a team, but Kayleigh Miller ran a time of 14:40. Kylie Franklin clocked a 14:55.

Caitlin Pruett finished in 14:57 and Kayler Talamantes had a time of 15:36.
