Lady Eagles conquer Nocona Tourney again

For the fifth consecutive year the Decatur Lady Eagles (25-6) won the gold division of the Nocona Tournament Saturday.

Decatur, currently ranked seventh in the state in 3A, clinched the championship with a sweep of host Nocona, 25-13, 25-17.

Makayla Mayfield led the way with 14 kills and 12 digs. Caroline Lowery added eight kills and eight digs.

Stormi Leonard handed out 22 assists.

Also on Saturday, Decatur defeated Lindsay 25-11, 25-20. They took down Iowa Park 25-14, 25-21, then swept Callisburg 25-16, 25-15.

On Friday Decatur rolled over Paradise 25-6, 25-9, 25-11.

Cooper Martin had 15 kills and three digs. Mayfield recorded nine kills and nine digs.

Lowery added six kills and nine digs. Darci Billmire put down eight kills.

Leonard finished with 28 assists and eight digs.
