Lady Bulldogs chase down Jim Ned

The No. 11 Alvord Lady Bulldogs edged No. 9 Tuscola Jim Ned, 50-48 in the fifth-place game of the Whataburger Tournament over the weekend.

Alvord used a big second quarter, outscoring Jim Ned 16-6, to help lead them to the victory.

Sam Hahn led the way with 15, and Marissa Schedcik had 10. Carley King finished with eight. Ariel Rogers and Katie Claborn each added six. Lauren Hart tossed in five.

In the semifinals Alvord got past Bowie 58-47. The Lady Bulldogs outscored Bowie in every quarter on their way to victory.

Schedcik led the way with 14, and Carley King had 13. Hart scored 11. Rogers added nine, and Hahn put up eight.

In their second game of the tournament, Alvord suffered their lone loss, 53-50 to Abilene Wylie. Alvord led by five at the half, but could not hold on in the final two quarters.

Schedcik led the way with 16, and King had 15. Hahn finished with 10, and Hart tossed in seven.

In the opening round, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Hico 61-56. King led the way with 21.
