Knights slay Dragons

By Messenger Staff | Published Saturday, October 19, 2013

The Chico Dragons dropped their second district game in a row after the Lindsay Knights controlled the field Friday night, 41-7.

The Knights (2-5, 2-0) denied the Dragons (4-2, 0-2) access to the endzone until the last play of the game.

Chico’s Jericoe McGuire was able to loft a 46-yard pass to Matt Carter for a touchdown, as the final buzzer signaled the end.

A fumble on the Dragon’s 8-yard line set up the Knights to draw first blood in the opening 30 seconds of the second quarter. The Knights scored again in the last 30 seconds of that quarter with a 57-yard run.

While neither team truly dominated in rushing or passing, Lindsay was able to circumvent the Dragons’ defense to drive home three more touchdowns in the third.

Lindsay’s Dakota Ellender crossed the goal line for the Knights’ final scoring run of the night.
