Two plays later Dakota Schweiger put the game away with a nine-yard touchdown.

Iowa Park (2-1) handed Bridgeport (0-3) their third straight loss, 21-14.

“It was a close game – everything was close,” Bridgeport coach Danny Henson said. “It just came down to a couple of plays and they had the big pass play to set up their touchdown.”

Bridgeport had their chances on the previous series, but the drive stalled at the Iowa Park 45 yard line. After the turnover on downs, Iowa Park only needed four plays and one minute to score the game-winning touchdown.

“We just couldn’t come up with a lot of big plays,” Henson said. “We also had too many mistakes.”

The Bulls got the scoring started late in the first quarter, when Trey Cook found Hunter Gantt for a 27-yard touchdown pass.

Iowa Park responded on the ensuing drive when Schweiger hit paydirt for the first time with a 37-yard run.

He gave the Hawks a 14-7 halftime lead when he scampered 73 yards early in the second quarter.

The Bulls had their chances throughout the game. Henson said they need to get some things fixed before facing Burkburnett this Friday.

“We’ve got to do a better job of execution,” Henson said. “We had a lack of big plays. Defensively we played well the majority of the game, we just gave a couple of big plays.”

Bridgeport scored the tying touchdown midway through the third quarter when Gantt carried it in from five yards out.

The Bulls’ will host Burkburnett Friday for homecoming.
