The Decatur and Bridgeport golf teams competed in a district warm-up tournament hosted by Denison High School Monday.
The tournament was held at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, which will be the site of the two day District 9-3A Tournament on April 8-9, and the Region II Tournament on April 15-16.
The 26-team field also included district competitors Krum and Sanger.
Under cool and windy conditions and tee time temperatures below freezing, Decatur’s team of Dylan Rottner, Drew Jones, Eric Gage, Dylan Erwin and Jansen Alker placed fifth with a 335.
Rottner led the way finishing fifth overall with a 78. Jones took 13th after firing and 81. Erwin and Alker both had and 88 and Gage shot a 90.
The Eagles are currently ranked eighth in Class 3A.
Bridgeport’s Brayden Garrett, Scott Trickel, Dylan Benham, Ty Reed and Blake Boyd captured ninth as a team with a 360. Garrett led the Bulls with a 79, good enough for eighth.
The Decatur team of Charlie Shannon, Cade Lamirand, Colton Horton, Brendan Kerby and Kyle Hubbard fired a 372, good enough for 12th.
