Decatur golf team tees up season

The Decatur Eagle golf team started its season Monday at Tanglewood Country Club and came away with a fifth-place finish.

The Decatur “A” team shot a team total 352, finishing two strokes behind fourth-place Frisco Lone Star.

North Lamar won the tournament with a 327.

The Decatur “B” team finished 12th with a 419 and the Eagle junior varsity took 13th with a 441.

Senior Charlie Shannon led the way for the “A” team with an 83. Cade Lamirand fired an 84.

Bryce Elder shot a 92, and Brenden Kirby fired a 93. Nick Trachta penciled a 95.

Trevor Rhoades led the “B” team with a 90. Josh Murray turned in a 105.

Lawson Harris and Hayden Bennett both fired a 112. Dawson Thompson had a 114.

Kale Bronniman led the JV with a 109. Chance Cooper came in with a 110. Ethan Sij and Drew Graves each had a 111.

Derek Potts penciled a 116.

Medalist Holden Walker fired a 115, and Kaylee Higdon shot a 105.
