The Decatur swim team stared off their season this past weekend at the Southlake Carroll Invitational. Several swimmers scored points in the Class 5A meet.
“We had a pretty good meet from most of our swimmers with lots of improved times,” coach Brooklyn Huffman said.
Junior Katey Rowden led the way with a first-place finish in the 100-fly with a time of 1:01.24. She took second in the 50-freestyle with a time of 24.58.
Kate Grant captured 13th in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:45.92.
Allie Blevins finished 17th in the 100-freestyle with a time of 1:02. Caraline Codrey had a time of 2:43 in the 200-backstroke for 12th.
Ethan Miles took 17th in the 100-fly with a time of 1:03.
Two relay teams placed during the event. The girls team of Blevins, Rowden, Grant and Emily Howdeshell secured 11th in the 200-free relay with a time of 1:54.
The boys team of Robert Davila, Dylan Carter, Logan Huff and Ethan Miles swam 1:47 in the 200-free relay for 14th.
Boyd’s Jake Bryans claimed 10th in the men’s 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.
