Decatur 8th, 7th grade boys capture titles

Decatur’s eighth grade boys captured the district championship Thursday, with a 43-24 win over Gainesville.

The Eagles led by 10 at the half and increased their lead to 36-19 heading to the fourth quarter.

Tyler Ticknor led the way with 18, and Jacob Tibbles tossed in 12. Parker Hicks added seven, and Payton McAlister had five. Bryce Elder and Cody Grimes each scored four.

Decatur slipped by Sanger in the semi-finals, 52-50. Ticknor led the way again with 18.

The seventh grade dominated the district tournament and took down Gainesville for the championship, 44-23. Charlie Doubrava led the way with 12. Dane Fitzgerald and Mason Hix each had 10. Josh Sij and Dylan Nation both added four. Sergio Sanchez and Jhett Parker each scored two.

Decatur defeated Bridgeport in the semifinal, 54-23. Hix led the way with 16, and Doubrava had 12.
