Chico lifters join basketball in history books

Chico made school history again over the weekend, with six of their eight girl lifters qualifying for the state meet March 15-16 in Corpus Christi.

Chico, Paradise and Boyd had lifters competing at the Division III Region 6 Powerlifting Meet in Leonard Saturday.

It is the first time any athlete from Chico has qualified for the state meet.

Ali Galindo, Alli York, Jordan Vidal, Charlye Biggerstaff, Breann Hall and Cheyenne Hale all advanced for the Lady Dragons.

Paradise’s Ashley Sparks will also be making the trip to state.

Galindo, Vidal, York, Biggerstaff, Hall and Hale all finished as the No. 1 ranked lifter in their respective classes at the Class A meet.

Sparks finished as the No. 2 ranked lifter at the Class 2A meet.
