Chico drops two

Chico lost two games of a doubleheader against Italy Saturday. The Dragons (11-5, 6-1) dropped the first game 10-9 and lost the second 11-6.

In the opener Chico fell in extra innings. They held a 7-2 lead after three innings, but gave up five in the fifth and one more in the seventh tying the game 8-8.

Chico scored one in the eighth but allowed Italy to score two in the bottom of the inning to take the game.

Tyler Melton led the offense with two hits and three RBI’s. Dustin Hardee batted in two with a triple. Jaston McBee and Dalton Tullos each had two hits.

Hardee took the loss in relief.

In the second game Chico got off to another good start with four runs in the first, but couldn’t hold the lead.

The Gladiators plated six runs in the second. After the Dragons tied the game in the third, Italy scored one in the bottom of the inning and four more in the fifth.

Marshall Anderle, and McBee each had a hit and an RBI. Tullos took the loss, going four and two thirds, striking out five and allowing 10 hits.

Chico will host Windthorst Friday.
