Dillon Waldrep picked up the win in his first start.

“We came out a little flat to begin with, and after a successful squeeze bunt by Jake Hulsey that scored two runs, we got things going,” said Bridgeport coach Ted Leps. “We had a pretty successful tournament. We got a lot of work on much needed game situations. There is a lot to improve before we get to district competition.”

Earlier Saturday, Bridgeport dismantled Lake Worth 17-1. Read and Omar Martinez each had three hits and Martinez finished with seven RBI’s. Delgado took the win.

On Friday the Bulls lost a pitcher’s duel to Princeton, 2-1. Dalton Hudson, Read and Martinez each had a hit.

In the tournament opener, Bridgeport got past Castleberry, 18-1. Samples had two hits and three RBI’s.

Read had a double and three RBI’s. He also pitched all four innings, allowing two hits, and striking out five for the win.
