Sanger officially knocked the Bridgeport Bulls out of playoff contention Friday. The Indians used a fourth quarter rally to take a 65-58 victory.
Bridgeport (14-15, 1-5) led by two going into the final quarter, but Sanger went on a nice two minute stretch in the fourth quarter where they hit some tough shots and made some key free throws to pull away.
“We were on top of our game and played our best game of the season,” Bridgeport coach Brian Miller said. “Everybody stepped up and made big plays. Sanger just made a few more plays in the end. I am proud of our guys for battling hard, Sanger was just a little better than we were tonight.”
Derrick Stanford led the Bulls with 14, and Reese Read ended the night with 13. Stephen Howdeshell added 11, and Alex Samples tossed in 10. Gentry Funk chipped in four. Blake Arrington and Dalton Hudson each scored three.
Bridgeport still has a chance to secure a winning season, and will conclude their season Friday at Krum.
