Bulls fall to Sanger

By Clay Corbett | Published Saturday, April 20, 2013

Sanger denied Bridgeport their opportunity to clinch the District 9-3A championship Tuesday. The Indians shut out the Bulls 3-0.

If both teams win this weekend, they will have to play a one-game playoff for the district title.

Bridgeport (21-5, 5-2) only managed three hits. Omar Martinez kept the Bulls in the game, but Sanger was able to scratch out a single run in three different innings.

“Omar battled all night long, we just couldn’t get any runners across the plate,” Bridgeport coach Ted Leps said. “The bottom line is that Sanger’s pitcher did a great job against us.”

Alex Samples, Martinez and Damian Delgado had the three Bridgeport hits.

The Bulls will play at Gainesville Saturday at 1 p.m.
