The No. 5 Bridgeport Bulls (18-3, 3-0) stayed perfect in district play with a 7-4 win over Sanger Thursday.

Bridgeport jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, but Sanger rallied back to tie things 4-4 in the third.

Omar Martinez hit a three-run home run in the fifth to give the Bulls the lead for good. Martinez ended the night with three hits and four RBI’s.

“We played really well at the point of the game it could have gone either way,” Bridgeport coach Ted Leps said. “Reese Read did a good job as the game progressed hitting his spots pitching. We have to get better at our small game as the rest of the season progresses.”

Dillon Waldrep added two hits and an RBI. Read picked up the complete game victory giving up five hits, walking three and striking out nine.

The Bulls will host Krum Friday.
