In their final tuneup before their area-round playoff series, the No. 10 Bridgeport Bulls cruised past the Bangs Dragons 9-0 Friday.
The Bulls (24-6) scored three runs in the third and six more in the sixth to put the game away.
Reese Read, Omar Martinez and Brandon Huff combined for eight strikeouts, allowing six hits and walking only one.
Seven Bull players had at least one hit.
Dillon Waldrep led the offense with three hits. Dalton Hudson finished with two hits and two RBI.
“This was a good game for us against a good team after being off a week,” coach Ted Leps said. “We didn’t run the bases well, though. That is something that we will work on before we play again.”
Bridgeport was set to begin their area round series against Princeton Friday. Game two is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Denton High School. If needed, game three will be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
