Bridgeport’s Martinez earns all-state honors

Postseason awards continue to pour in for Bridgeport’s Omar Martinez.

Martinez was recently named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A first-team all-state team as a third baseman.

Martinez ended his senior season with a .923 fielding percentage at third base and pitcher.

On the mound, he posted a 2.91 ERA with 61 strikeouts in helping lead the Bulls’ to a district championship and a spot in the state playoffs. He also earned District 9-3A MVP honors.

He carried a big bat, too, compiling a .419 average with five homers and 39 RBIs.

The other first-team third baseman was Shane Clement of Wimberley.

Krum’s Ty Damron earned first-team all-state pitcher honors.
