The Bridgeport Bulls easily got past Dallas Sunset 9-2 to claim the Little Elm Tournament over the weekend.
The Bulls (8-1) put up five runs in the first inning and never looked back. Damian Delgado went all six innings earning the win. Omar Martinez had two doubles and two RBI’s. Delgado and Erik Delgadillo also had a couple of hits each.
“We played really well all weekend and improved in areas of the game,” Bridgeport coach Ted Leps said.
The Bulls shut out Little Elm 10-0. Alex Samples pitched all five innings for the win, striking out seven. Reese Read came with three hits to lead the offense.
Martinez, Delgado and Delgadillo all finished with two hits each.
“Alex [Samples] did a great job keeping Little Elm off balance all night,” Leps said. “We really had a good approach at the plate.”
Bridgeport edged Celina 4-3 on Friday. The Bulls rallied with four runs late to take the victory.
Dillon Waldrep picked up the win in relief. Read had three hits while Delgado finished with two.
The Bulls opened the tournament with a 15-1 thrashing of R.L. Turner. Read pitched a complete game giving up two hits and striking out seven in five innings. He also had three hits along with Waldrep. Samples and Delgado had two hits each.
