Bridgeport shuts down Aubrey, 13-0

The No. 6 Bridgeport Bulls (16-3, 1-0) shut out Aubrey Friday 13-0 in non-district action. The Bulls exploded for six runs in the third and fourth innings to put the game away.

Bridgeport racked up 12 hits with four players having multiple-hit games. Omar Martinez led all hitters with a 3 for 3 performance including a double and a homerun. Reese Read connected on a three-run homerun in the third.

Alex Samples went 3 for 4 while Dillon Waldrep ended the night with two hits.

Read picked up his fourth win on the mound, going all five innings, giving up one hit and striking out seven.

“We did a really good job at the plate with our approach,” Bridgeport coach Ted Leps said. “Several of our 12 hits came with two strikes.”
