The Bridgeport Bulls took third in their opening meet of the year at the Burkburnett Relays Friday.
“This was our first meet of the year, and the boys did a great job,” Bridgeport coach Brian Davenport said. “This was an all relay meet and the kids tried all-types of new races. There has been a lot of improvement since the start of the season. The boys are getting in better shape.”
The 4×100 relay team of Jessie Smith, Hunter Gantt, Jordan Polk and Chase Collins took first with a time of 45.50. Smith, Polk, Collins and Raby Hawkins placed first in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:37.
Austin Lennard, Tommy Canales, Rosendo Cardenas and Bryan Hutchinson ran 4:18 in the sprint medley to take second.
Lennard, Canales, Hutchison and Colton Klyce ran third in the distance medley with a time of 13:21.
The 4×400 relay of Gantt, Smith, Polk and Hawkins took third in 3:49.
Cason Mitchum threw 37 feet for fifth in the shot put. Jake Simmons placed fifth in the discus with a toss of 103-11 and Mitchum was sixth with a throw of 101-8.
The Sissies came home with a seventh place finish at the Burkburnett meet.
The 4×100 team of Bradi Anderson, Elaina Peyton, Allison Price and Bailey Thompson finished fifth with a time of 55.30.
Anderson, Thompson, Felicia Coleman and Lauren Stowers placed sixth in the sprint medley with a time of 5:07.
The team of Thompson, Anderson, Stowers and Peyton ran sixth in the 4×200 in 1:58.
Coleman, Landrie Walsh, Price and McKenna Myers ran 15:33 in the distance medley for sixth.
“The girls have been working hard, with a lot of them joining us a little later from basketball,” Davenport said. “Several girls had some of their best times of the season.”
