Yellowjackets make fourth run at 7-on-7 title

After qualifying for the state 7-on-7 football tournament back at the beginning of June, the Boyd Yellowjackets will finally get to make their long awaited trip this weekend.

Boyd, along with the other 63 teams in the Division II field will start pool play Thursday afternoon at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander.

Boyd will play three games Thursday at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. against Bandera, Midland Christian and Lorena.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to the championship round Friday morning, while the remaining two teams from each pool will advance to the consolation bracket, also on Friday morning.

The consolation championship will begin at 3 p.m. while the championship game will start at 4 p.m.

Senior Garrett Ragsdale, who is line for the starting quarterback job, should benefit from the extra reps at the state tournament. He backed up Blake McDonald last season.

The state tournament is held three weeks before the start of two-a-day workouts, which begin Aug. 5.
