Bowie edges Boyd, 5-4

Boyd dropped their second game of the season Monday with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Bowie.

They were still without their ace pitcher, Chelsea Arlington, who took a line drive above her eye in their first day at the Peaster Tournament.

She is expected back by the end of the week.

The Lady Jackets (5-2) took a 3-1 lead after the third inning, but Bowie rallied to tie things in the bottom of the fifth.

After a run in the top of the seventh, Boyd took the lead to the bottom of the inning. The Lady Jackrabbits put up two runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim the victory.

Savannah Foster and Amber Bowen each had two hits for Boyd. Chandler Hammon took the loss.

Over the weekend, the Lady Jackets came away with a third-place finish at the Peaster Tournament.

Boyd downed Krum 10-2 in the third place game. Hammon and Foster each had three RBI’s in the game. Britney Howard connected on two doubles.

Hammon picked up the win in the circle.

In the semifinal Maypearl shut out the Lady Jackets, 3-0. Hammon took the loss after going all six innings.

Linsey Chancellor, Foster, Kallie Tyner and Amber Bowen all recorded a hit.

Boyd will compete in the NCTC Tournament this weekend in Gainesville.
