The Bridgeport Bulls picked up a season opening win, Tuesday at Springtown rallying for a 5-4 win.
With the Bulls (1-0) trailing 4-3 in the top of the seventh, Dillon Waldrep started a two-run rally with a one out double. Waldrep eventually scored the tying run and Damian Delgado plated the winning run after scoring on an Erik Delgadillo squeeze bunt.
Alex Samples picked up the win, pitching the sixth and seventh innings.
“It’s always good to start the year out with a win,” Bridgeport coach Ted Leps said. “We have a big weekend ahead of us with the North Texas Tournament.”
The Bulls will host Lake Worth Monday.
PARADISE 20, CASTLEBERRY 6
Paradise took an 11-1 lead after two innings and cruised the rest of the way in their 20-6 season opening victory.
The Panthers (1-0) scored at least two runs in all five innings. Dillon Meadows picked up the win and had three hits, including a triple and two RBI’s at the plate.
Skylar Black also had three hits, including a double, and three RBI’s. Tanner Valentine knocked in four on a couple of hits.
John Bridgeman finished with a couple of singles.
Paradise will host North Garland Monday.
BOYD 10, NOCONA 0
The Boyd Yellowjackets started their season off with a 10-0 victory over Nocona Tuesday. Boyd (1-0) scored two in the second, two in the third, and six in the fourth to pull away.
Sonny McCarmack got the win going all five innings, giving up two hits, and recording six strikeouts.
Rett Sears had a couple of hits with five RBI’s, including a two-run triple in the third. Sal Spinelli and Clay Barnett each had RBI hits.
Boyd will host Godley Tuesday.
MINERAL WELLS 9, DECATUR 0
Decatur opened the season with a 9-0 loss to Mineral Wells Tuesday. They were set to begin the North Texas Tournament of Champions Thursday, but rain pushed it back to Friday.
Beginning Thursday the Eagles will play in the Mineral Wells Tournament.
